Shirley from Memphis, Tennessee sent in this favorite recipe for a nutrition facelift from Executive Chef Bonnie Moore. The changes we made allow Shirley to keep this recipe from a beloved coworker dear to her heartwhile keeping it healthy.
Bonnie slashed more than half the fat and sodium (and 70 percent of the artery-clogging saturated fat) with the following Makeover Techniques:
- Substituted a leaner cut of beef (cuts cooking time by more than half!)
- Substituted non fat sour cream for regular sour cream.
- Replaced higher sodium tomato soup with chopped fresh tomatoes.
- Replaced higher sodium canned mushrooms with more fresh mushrooms.
- Served the stroganoff with noodles.
