Posted - 02/16/2007 : 6:03:01 PM How can I motivate my 78 year old mother to exercise regularly? My mother is not totally sedentary but needs to exercise more. She recently hurt her leg from repetitive motion via a household task she'd been doing and had to rest until the leg healed. I suggested that if she's kneeling on her right leg each time to do the task that she switch off and kneel on her left leg every other time -- basically, just do the task differently each time to avoid repetitive motion injury. I think if she exercised regularly and strengthened her muscles and joints that this kind of thing would happen less often. I'm afraid she might decide to quit exercising altogether for fear of hurting herself again. Anyone have suggestions?
