Hi, I think this is a great place but I am a little bummed out on the very little responses it has. I notice there are a lot of lookers but very few respond. I think maybe we all can do better if we get more active and keep the boards interesting by sharing. We can talk about anything it doesn't have to all be about weight it could be anything like something funny, family, friends a situation. Please join me and create some great conversations! Thank you and together we can do this!

Sorry I haven't checked in for so long! I still don't have regular internet, I have to resort to stealing from my sister or from neighbors or going to free Wi-Fi places. It really is getting to be a royal pain in the butt. No matter how many times I call the place to moan about them not coming when they were supposed to exchange the stuff, it makes no difference. Uff, sooo frustrated!!!

But finally all moved in. Need to get a bathtub installed still, which I'm sure will still take weeks to come. I absolutely hate showers! This is very hard for me to say the least. I'm totally having tub withdrawls.

It's been a tough week so far in the new house!!

The days fly by. Too bad you have nothing but mud and can't play in the yard this summer. I too hope the move is worth it. I'm sure it will be for the best.

I do believe Harley has totally forgotten us. And we're so adorable!

Good luck with the move. Glad you had a great time with your oldest. The mountains - oh, I do love them. There's nothing as gorgeous as the mountains. I don't live near any, but I have been on vacations and seen them. I fell in love with them years ago.

Good luck!

The trip is always good! Always hard to come back to this ugly, ugly place after being in such beautiful mountains & of course being with my oldest. I do miss him so.

We have rain, yet again. We will all thru the weekend it calls for. A big mud hole in the backyard. The new owners are starting work on a garage so there's lots of digging & lots of mess now. Thought it was bad before....it's triple that now for the dogs. Uff. How I hate that! Over at the new house won't be any better at all. That backyard is getting all ripped apart too. So I can't plant or do anything probably at all this year. Too much going on.

Next weekend is the big move, yuck! Lord how I hate having to do all of that again. Just the thought of it makes me cringe. And so much work we have to do inside & outside both, gives me the willies. Just hope it ends up being worth it all in the long run.

I'm beginning to wonder what happened to our Harley girl. She's dropped off again!

The days are going faster and faster. I can't believe I haven't been in here in over a week.

How was your trip to Wyoming? I'm sure you had a good time and that it was wonderful to see your oldest son.

The weather has been nice here. The weekend was cool actually - 60's, which I love, but it isn't great for everyone who wants to swim beginning Memorial weekend. It's warming up.

I haven't planted a lot, and what I did plant it's in pots. Makes life easier and the ground/soil just isn't that great at my house. It's an old mining town. My mom always told me there's too much coal in the soil. It's taken me all these years, but guess what -she was right!

I wouldn't want to pack up and move, but you will be so happy with your new home - more room for one thing.

Yes, it's way past time for harley to jump in and say 'Hi gals! Life's good, but I've been busy. The chickens (whatever), the cow (whatever). I miss hearing about her critters.
jenjs Posted - 05/15/2013 : 4:01:07 PM
I have a spare second or two so I thought I'd pop in!

Hope you had a great mom's day. Kiddo & I went to Minot. Hubs had to be on call so he couldn't leave town. Oh well, we had a nice day anyways. Hubs always says I'm not his mother anyhow. That's the kind of guy he is. Not very, what's the word I want to use....not really emotional. Not really sure what to use! He can be very emotional at times, almost very diva-ish even! So, he's just an odd duck, we'll just say that.

I'm not planting or anything until we're all done & moved. Ugh. I hate the thought of it even. We're having a fence put up, so the lawn will be dug up & all, so I won't even bother messing with trying to get a decent lawn until mid June if even then. Yuck. I hate moving!!!

My allergies have really kicked my butt this year & I don't really get why. It was way bad last week, I thought it was the end of me for sure. About time it started to go away a bit, I was really hating getting up in the mornings! Plus taking care of 4 small ones on top of that, yuck. Last week was not a good one at all.

Harley does need to get her butt in here & check in!

Hope you too have a good weekend. Next week kiddo & I are off to Wyo!! Can't wait to go see my oldest baby!!
beb48 Posted - 05/15/2013 : 2:33:31 PM
It's warm here. Yesterday morning I wore a sweater. It was really chilly. Left work and it was 91! Had the A/C on at home. So strange.

I did some planting over the weekend. Shasta daisies, clover, sweet potato vine, marigolds, petunias, spearmint, basil . . . I don't remember what else. But they are all in pots. I don't have luck planting in the yard. I bought the home of my aunt/uncle. They built it in 1949. I always loved it. She used to say that she had a hard time growing things due to having too much coal in the soil. Could be. This is a mining town. I've had trouble and I give up. To expensive and too upsetting to put the time, money and effort into having something pretty only to have it die. So they are in pots.

I'm tired and I think it's due to this switch back/forth in the weather. Bothers allergies, arthritis, you name it. I think it's making me tired. My body simply cannot adjust.

Sure would love to have harley check in.

Have a great weekend.

I had peeked in the other day, was going to get back in & totally lost time! Sheesh!

We finally hit the 70s the other day, glory glory! I did the lawn, so it's all ready for some showers to come & start making it all green. And it can even be the white stuff if it decided to, I could care less now! I know it won't last now if it does.
beb48 Posted - 05/09/2013 : 2:14:46 PM
Nothing new going on here. More rain. More t-storms. I can't complain. It isn't cold and it isn't that 'white stuff.'

I've lost a couple more pounds!! I'm working on it.

Hopefully I have a different car by tomorrow. I'm still waiting on the 2005. I was ready to test drive it and the seller (who I do know, as she used to work here too) said she was going to put it in the shop and have it checked before selling it. If I change my mind, fine. She'll use it as a trade-in, but she needed to know for sure that it's in good condition. It looks terrific. Truly does look new. It's in the shop now and the mechanic said it's in very good condition. There's only one thing - he had to replace the catalytic converter (What??). Then it was explained to me that it has to do with air quality. In Illinois we have emissions testing every other year. The cat converter is involved with this emissions business. Doesn't have anything to do, really, as far as the engine, etc. goes. Minor - and her expense. Fine with me.

I'm sure you're busy getting everything lined up for work, moving, etc. I don't envy you that move, but it will be for the best.

Happy Mother's Day.
beb48 Posted - 05/01/2013 : 2:44:48 PM
It's sunny and 80 here today. I hope the heavy rains are over too.

Glad you're able to get the windows open and breathe in that fresh air. Sneeze. Sneeze. Cough, cough. I know what you mean. My nose is like a faucet every morning lately. I don't care. I have the windows open.

16 already. Kind of brings tears to your eyes; doesn't it? It's amazing how they grow up so quickly and right before our eyes. They become young adults. He's a working 'man' too, and that's wonderful. Hope he had a great b-day.

Yes, car shopping . . . I am not buying a new one. That's all there is to it. Then I have to worry about the doors getting banged up in the garage when the doors are opened, the mower is taken out, a bike is taken out, a rake . . . No way. If it isn't new, it doesn't get so banged up. Strange, but true. I have a good friend here at work whose passion is cars. I think I told you about him. Think I told you about him. He has at least 10, a huge garage . . . he can rebuild them, repair and do body work. They are 'hobbies.' He also built 3 of his homes! Talent. He's always working too. He had a phone call last week from someone who used to work with us. She wants to sell her car and buy a new one. She has a 2005 Ford Escape. Of course she would call him. Why not? He buys them quite often. He looked at it and said it's like new, new tires, 4 wd, power, etc. I will look at it Friday. I have postponed all shopping to look at it. I don't want to shop for a car. Don't want car payments either. So the 2005 would be perfect for me. I'm anxious to drive it. I trust my friend completely. Rentals are expensive too! Like you said. Can't be without a car.

Have a great weekend.
jenjs Posted - 04/26/2013 : 3:20:34 PM
I'm so glad to hear that the GS is ok! How scary is that. And I feel for you with the car situation, I hate having to also ever look for a car. It is one of the worst things I think you ever have to deal with. What's so bad is we just can't really live without them anymore! I know I sure can't around here, not living in the middle of nowhere.

Speaking of living there, it actually has been gorgeous the past 2 days here....finally! It is actually acting like spring! The birds are chirping at 5:30 in the morning, it's been in the 60s & I'm able to open up the windows finally for some fresh air. It's like a dream! And my sinuses are paying for it too. But hey, I've waited 7 months to do this, so I really don't care now!!! It actually is 64 as I write this & I am more than elated. I only wish the lawn wasn't all wet & mushy, then I could have the kids go out for a bit. But yeah, it's terribly muddy, wet, sloppy & squishy. Making a huge mess with the dogs. Yuck! Definitely mud season with them.

Youngest turns 16 on Sunday. I have no idea where all those years went to! I can remember just having him it seems just yesterday! Hope you have a great, WARM weekend!!
beb48 Posted - 04/25/2013 : 1:38:51 PM
You certainly are a busy lady. Great news though. Glad to hear your son is working there also. Couldn't work out better for all of you.

Congratulations to your husband on the dog handling job. So he likes police work well enough to do it full time. Pity the pay isn't as good. They risk their lives and deserve to be paid well. Seems as though things are working out though.

My GS had my car Monday evening and was in an accident. Thank God he's OK. Very sore - neck & back - but he's alive. The bad news is my car is old. It isn't worth fixing it and I would be terrified to put money into it and not be sure how safe it is. I have to do the car shop thing, which I hate. I don't even like cars. I won't buy a new one. I want an older one, and fortunately I have a good friend who is a mechanic. As a matter of fact cars are his passion and his pasttime. He's helping me.

Poor kid. It was early evening, around 5. He was on his way to a girl's house. They were going to do something so totally innocent - get ice cream and then come back to our house. His mom and I haven't met her. We know about her, but that's it. He was only about 10 mins. from home. He was going through an intersection and someone pulled out and turned right in front of him. He claims the light was yellow and he was halfway through the intersection. She claims the light was green. She has the witness! So guess who's at fault. That makes it even worse - insurance will go up.

It could have been worse. I keep telling him that because he feels bad because he knows I did not want to buy a car. He's saving for one of his own, but with a PT job it isn't so easy. Life isn't easy though.

Have a good weekend.
jenjs Posted - 04/19/2013 : 2:45:33 PM
I best do this quick while I have some spare minutes! I seem to have very few of those lately these days with 2 very little ones now. Plus having to do searching online while I can squeeze it in for the daycare, leaves little time for anything else. But I get to missing it if I don't!

My new boss is terrific! Plus, kiddo actually works there also, in the shop. He's been there for a couple months now. He goes in after school & on Saturdays. But after school gets out, he'll do the Saturday hrs all week long, no more lawn mowing jobs. Otherwise he would have kept doing that probably. But he was getting tired of it.

Hubs now is the new K9 handler for the police dept., so he'll be going for training on that not this coming week but the week after. The other guy that was the handler had misspoken on facebook & got himself fired, hubs had been a dogsitter for the dog on his off days & it was only logical for him to actually be the replacement. Not everyone fully agrees, but oh well, the dog responds a lot better really with hubs than she did with the 1st guy. He was not really into it. I'm giving hubs by the end of this yr that he'll probably quit his real-time job & go into the police force full time, which is also why I wanted to do this daycare too. Policemen don't make as much as what he makes now & we would need to have my other income coming in to kind of break even on what it is now, or come kind of close.

Uff! I do hope you have a good weekend, we're supposed to be getting more snow showers again, lovely...
beb48 Posted - 04/18/2013 : 11:01:26 AM
The situation is Boston is so sad. Afraid to send kids to school. Afraid to go sightseeing in heavily populated cities. Afraid to go to church for heavens sakes! It seems as though life is no longer valued by many. I realize they must pulicize things like this, BUT someone else who isn't really 'with the program' sees/hears things like this and decides to 'become famous.' It sort of snowballs. It wasn't long ago we had Sandy HOOK and the killing of all those little ones. It's sad. It's frightening.

I'm glad you're moving forward with the new job. That's terrific. Congratulations to you. What you have said about your boss makes her a treasure. It will work out beautifully. You'll be perfect for this. You have ideas. You enjoy children and are good with them. It's a win/win situation for both of you. PLUS you get to take your kids with you. Their parents must be thrilled. It's all working out very well for you.

The weekend is here almost. The weeks really do fly by. Now you have your new job. New home. Wow. What will your son do with himself all summer? Maybe he can find some grass cutting jobs or something.

I'd better get busy. It's storming here again. So I need to get some work done in case I decide to shut down this computer.
jenjs Posted - 04/15/2013 : 6:25:32 PM
Wow, I'm watching about the Boston Marathon right now. Holy crap, what is going on??! But really, do they know it was honestly bombs & not some kind of gas leaks, for sure? Uff, this is all so tiring anymore. Soon it will be dangerous to go to the grocery store. How pathetic is that.

One thing on the weather here....it's not quite as dangerous as there! We did get about 5" yesterday/last night & they delayed school 2 hrs. today. Not that we couldn't get any tornadoes, but not until it gets way warmer! We were lucky to hit 30 today. And I'm past sick of it!! I swear I thought of getting out my Christmas tree yesterday & baking cookies...

Well, on Weds. I go back to go over even more things with my new "Boss", we didn't even come close to talking about things! I can start researching things from home now & get paid for it, which is awesome, plus when I do start at the new place I'm able to have my current kids come with me, so they don't have to find another place to go to....that in itself speaks loudly of my boss! She's an awesome lady, she's well liked & respected in the community, wants to be able to retain her employees...which you never hear about & if you do, hold on to them! I just want to be able to do such a good job for her & I have so many doubts since I've never done anything like this before. Uff, I just need to get hold of myself & quit being so negative! I can do it!
beb48 Posted - 04/12/2013 : 11:54:18 AM
Congratulations on the sale of your house!! Wow that was fast, and such a relief for both of you. I'm sure you'll work something out as far as pay/benefits for the daycare. It would be perfect for you.

I "HAD" my windows open. Actually Wednesday it was too warm here. Got warm too fast. The winds picked up. Severe t-storm warnings were out and Wham!! It was really bad by 6:30 or so. Hazelwood MO, which is about 24 - 25 miles from where I live in IL got hit really, really bad by a tornado. Tremendous destruction there to homes and businesses. They called in a neighboring city's emergency personnel to help them. It's that time of year here. We had the warnings and the sirens went off, but we were very lucky.

Now today it's it's in the low 30's. Go figure! The weather here is ridiculous.

And you still have lots and lots of snow. I wouldn't trade you. I'd be so sick of it by now.

Have a great weekend.
jenjs Posted - 04/10/2013 : 3:30:42 PM
Glad all went well at the drs for you! I agree, with cancer running in the family, it's best to be safe than sorry. I have to with the mammo every year, since mom & younger sis both had cancer. Sis beat hers, unfortunately it was much too late for mom. I honestly don't believe it's hereditary like they say. I do believe it has a lot to do with the diet. Genes may play a very small part, but no one else has had cancer but the two on that side of the family.

Not quite sure what kind of bug we had caught! I didn't feel really bad, but it sure didn't like me much. Even now my tummy is still a little touchy. That can be a good thing still, right? Not eat as much! But you know what? I've been really, REALLY craving a Sara Lee butter streusel coffee cake, do you have those there? Man, I've looked all over the place for one & can't find one anywhere!! We used to get them for Sunday mornings when I was a kid, talk about a treat. I can taste it right now, just thinking about it. Yuuuummmmm....Wish I could have one right now!

*sigh* I do envy you being able to open up your windows! I sooo wish I could do that. It's only 30 today. At least we didn't get dumped on like a lot of others did yesterday, ha ha! Finally someone else got it other than us. I still have 3 ft. drifts in the backyard, almost 4 ft'ers. yuck. It's going to take until June before they're gone.

Oh! We did sell the house! Actually to a couple the hubs knows. Was so easy, I was so relieved. They came by later on a Friday, looked at it, said they wanted to move into town & wanted something not too big, when could they have it! Sweet! So nice not having to worry about how we're going to sell it. Big relief.

I go to talk about the daycare more tomorrow, see what she would offer, see if it's acceptable, that kind of thing. So probably by the next writing I'll have some good news, hopefully! I think it would be a hoot! Have my new house free from all of the kiddo stuff all over the place, be nice.

And I don't dare say the worst of winter is over, I'll just jinx it if I do that....but I did see a robin, but he wasn't singing a pretty song. He was doing a mad song, you know how they sound, like when they're really letting someone have it! I think he was a bit miffed he came back already & it was still so friggin cold...
beb48 Posted - 04/08/2013 : 4:10:42 PM
Sorry you and your hubby have been sick. That darn flu - stomach and chest/throat - has been horrible around here. It has taken everyone I have known 2 - 3 weeks to get back to feeling like themselves again.

The test was fine. I don't like doing it, but it's a have to thing. I put it off as long as I could. With a family history of cancer, I just couldn't avoid it any longer.

It's been very pretty here this weekend. I opened up the windows, turned on ceiling fans. It was gorgeous and I was so excited to air out the house. I'd love to plant flowers, but it's too early. Sometime next month, middle probably, I'll plant a little.

Congratulations. Setting up a new daycare will be terrific for you. How exciting. Adults too. Holy cow. You won't know how to act. This will be ideal for you.

I do believe spring is here. We'll still have some cool days, but the worst is over. Alleluia!
jenjs Posted - 04/03/2013 : 3:46:06 PM
Glad you had a good Easter! Not so much here. Hubs & I both had stomach flu. Mine went on until yesterday, had it since late Fri. nite too. Ugh, not fun. It was worse for hubs at first, he was throwing up with his, I didn't. He'd started early Fri. morning & then I came on later that night, a very long weekend like that!!! Tell ya what....lost 3# from that alone....course it's all back, was nice to have it gone! But what a way to go...Your turkey sounds pretty yummy BTW.

Hubs has actually not mentioned being in any pain ever since, which is good, but odd for him, you know men. They do have to moan & groan. I tell you, I do NOT like having to care for him when he's sick, such a whiner. Sheesh. Seriously, reeeeeeaaaaaaalllly bad!

Best of luck on your endeavors this week, yuck. I feel like I kinda had one this past weekend! The time will come I should do one sooner than later.

It's actually a very balmy 34 outside, if you can believe it! Geez, we may be heading into spring now. There's a few places more in the south part of the state that may see some 60s....wish it was us. I'd love to open up the windows for a bit. I just may after the kiddos leave.

OH! That reminds me! Come the 1st part of June I'll probably be setting up a new daycare in another business!! No more in the house! And I'll be able to see other adults during the day!! Yee-haw!!! I'm getting excited! I'll know more details around Friday for sure, so come next week I'll know some more. This is going to be awesome! I thought I'd tell ya that before I forgot, since I was talking about kiddos there at the end.

Good luck in a few days!
beb48 Posted - 04/01/2013 : 12:06:00 PM
Easter was beautiful here. Started off chilly, gloomy and rainy. By 10 AM the sun was out. By noon I turned the furnace off and cracked a few windows open for fresh air. Wow! It was wonderful. I baked a turkey breast. Simply could not decide what to fix, and that sounded good. Hope you had a lovely day too.

If it's tennis elbow, good. Could be so much worse. I'd be watching him though. So true about the smoking. He has to want it and he has to do it. It's tough. I quit many years ago and it was very difficult.

I may not make it back here this week. I'm off Thurs/Friday. Thurs is 'prep day' and Friday is colonoscopy day. I have sooooooo much fun!

I think I'll get a couple sweet potatoes and start some vines indoors. They're pretty. I can then plant them outdoors sometime next month when I can believe the weather might stay nice.

Have a great week.
jenjs Posted - 03/28/2013 : 3:37:58 PM
I wondered how much you got dumped with. So, about a foot huh? Ugh! It's gonna be at least til late may before I'll be able to do any kind of yardwork, by then we'll be getting close to movin out of here...and by then we *cough cough* better have it sold!!

Hubs ended up having tennis elbow, of all things, if you can believe it! I'm relieved, believe me, but for as much pain as he was in & it radiating in both arms & his legs being so swollen & all....I still believe he has other issues. He does need to lose 40# he was told, plus quit smoking, naturally. No brainer. The swelling was due to his weight is what he was told. Hmmmm......Well, could be, but it was a lot of what like dad had too, to the point it was almost worse. No, not gout-like, but with heart stuff. I can definitely see that from the smoking. He has to want to stop that on his own, again, I can't make him.

It may be Easter comin up on Sunday, but it looks & feels like Christmas here. Hope y'all have a great one!!
