Has anyone tried pilates? I just started this pilates reformer class at my gym. It's the kind where you use that weird contraption. I was shocked at how many different exercises you can do on this machine and I really love it! You really work your muscles in ways you just don't with weights and you also build up your core. I've been hearing so long about how pilates can help you build muscles and get lean and always wondered if it was hype. Well, I really believe the hype now. If you get a chance to take the class anywhere in your area, I highly suggest it.

BTW, I've done pilates mat too and this really is much different - this is definitely more of a workout for your muscles and core. I actually sweat in the reformer class vs. the mat ones.

OMG!! I bought the Windsor Pilates DVD box set at www.windsorpilates.com

Pilates is an AMAZING workout and I felt thinner, my clothes fit better in about 2 weeks! I can't workout here at home tho. My husband buys and sells "junque" for a living so there is always ome big piece of furniture of pile of stuff in the living room. That's the only room big enough to exercise in.

I guess I was just doing the mat routine, but if I ever can work it back into my day I WILL!! I would get mad at those skinny little bitches on the video and it made me want to be in control of my muscles even more!! They made it look EFFORTLESS and it is far from effortless!!

If you do try Pilates, don't get frustrated!! It is HARD! Start slowly and work into it. Use the modified movements and really concentrate of which muscles are being worked. This is important. Keep doing the routine and slowly, but surely you will be able to "feel it".

2x4 was here, but now she's gone. She left this post to carry on...

I bought and have that Windsor Pilates box set too. LOL! I have done it a few times and it is quite hard. However, if you think that's hard, the machine is even harder. I found that I just don't get as motivated working out at home - I need to be around people. I get so much more into it when there is healthy competition and motivation from others. That's why I finally stopped kidding myself about working out at home and just joined the gym. I'm glad you like pilates too. My instructor says her boss always jokes that it's a stretch class and she keeps telling him he needs to take it once before he relegates it to just being a stretch class.
