October??? We only have 1/3 of this year left. I'm getting older by the minute.

$700 to get the car fixed. Bumber. Cost me $333 for the stupid window and an oil change. But I must say it beats the heck out of car payments.

$50 for food twice a month? I'll stop complaining. I spend approx $35 or so for the month. I'm guessing. I usually buy Benefiel or some Purina food. I don't usually switch it around. He does well on those 2. So I won't mess with it.

It got down in the 40's here this weekend at night. I love it. Couldn't be happier. Fall has definitely arrived.

Well my friend, back to work for me. Harley!!! Let us know you're OK.

Hopefully soon ol harley will stick her head in here & say hi & let us know she's ok still!! It is fall tho, pretty busy time of year around the farm..
The past 2 days hubs & I have been building our front deck & it is finished!! We just need to add the lattice to the bottom part & we're good to go! Looks mighty good too for 2 beginners that have never done anything like that. Just one more thing crossed off the endless list it seems like!
It's been in the 30s now at night, some 40s, but today we're supposed to see low 80s, wow!! I'll take it for sure, beats all the mud & yuk....tho the lawns could use a good drenching, but why bother if the season is done anyways?? Know what I mean?? I may do a mowing tho to get up all the leaves in the back yard. That's a good idea for such a nice warm day today.
So, if it is such a great day today I better get moving on it & do something!! Have a great day today...

Yes, I wish harley would let us know she's OK. Ever since I heard about her fight with the cow I've worried.

Congrats to you had hubby. That's a job. What about putting down some grass seed and hay? Would that help get the grass going for next year? Then the rains, when they come, will help the seed and hold it in place, as well as the snows. I don't know though. It's just a thought.

Got my hair cut again yesterday. It needs shaped up if nothing else every 4 weeks. I always feel better after that.

It was in the 40's here at night last weekend and earlier this week. Now it's warming up again. But it's perfect. Warm days, possibly 80, cool nights. No air or heat which means 'ideal' for me. Saves money!

Have a great weekend. Did you ever get to the MD and check out your throat?

Happy Tuesday AM.

It got warm here again. It's going to - or 'suppose to' - cool over in a day or so. Not bad. I can handle a day or so and it isn't humid.

The trees are changing daily. Beautiful reds, oranges, golds. I love it. I justs want that 'crispness' in the air that comes with fall.

How's everything with you? Football going OK? Did you plant mums? I thought about it and here we are into mid-October. The time goes so quickly.

I had decided also that I'd like a few herbs for the house, indoors. Called the local nursery and they don't have any. They had a 1/2 price sale and sold every one of them. Now how did I miss that? I must live with my head buried in the sand.

Well it's payroll day for me. So I have to get crackin. Just wanted to check in. I knew it had been a few days. Have a great week.

Slacker I am here! I was going to check in yesterday but got sidetracked, of course...

It was fairly warm over the weekend, even came close to turning on the AC, but I knew by morning everyone would be freezing so I wasn't about to. Course hubs turned on the heater come morning, figured he would! But it was sooo nice to have the warm! It's still beautiful fall weather, can't complain here. If there's no snow & big mud puddles, I am hunky dory.

Football ended yesterday, last game, but he had to miss it because of a migraine. He was a tad upset that he had to miss it, but there was no way he could have done it. They have a meeting after school today & he told me he felt like he didn't belong there since he missed yesterday. I told him to stop that, he'd been there for the whole season. And if I hear they gave him a rough time over him being sick.....they better run! Mama bear gets pretty protective..

I thought about planting some bulbs & such for next spring, but I thought I better wait until we decide how we're doing decks & grass & all before I do all that. Then like in 2 yrs it'll look smashing!

Hubs goes to dr on Thurs, his hands have been feeling numb & doing the tingling like after your foot falls asleep. Been doing it a lot the past few weeks, getting to the point where it's hard for him to do much of anything anymore. Scary stuff, hopefully it may be something not too awful like carpal tunnel instead of blocked arteries, that kind of thing. I told him if he ends up needing some kind of heart stuff done, we pay enough in insurance that he better not worry on that!! No kidding, every month total insurance...just health...is close to $1000 & that's offered thru his company. Totally insane. All of that health care junk needs an overhaul. It's just disgusting.

Glad to see you're doing well beb, hopefully soon we'll hear from our ol' pal harley soon too...

Beautiful here. The AC went off Monday. Gorgeous, fall days.

So football is over now. I'm sure glad you talked to your son about that 'not belonging' business. He's being way, way too hard on himself. He was at practices. He was at games. Darn right he belongs. Sick is sick. On the plus side, you know what. He's a very responsible kid. He's growing up!

Sorry to hear your hubs is having problems. Hope things turn out OK today.

I'm just sick this morning. Went out to the garage to get something out of the freezer - a 'steamers' entre for my lunch. Saw water by the freezer and knew that it was out. It would have happened Tues or Wednesday, possibly late Monday. I was out there Monday AM and all was well. But it's defrosted and the meat is 'soft'. Tonight I'll bag it all up and haul it out for trash pick-up tomorrow. I don't remember for sure how old it is - at least 20 yrs old. Won't mess with it at all. But I'm also not ready to turn right around and buy a new one. That's $$$$$$$.

$1000 a month for insurance? Yikes. That's a lot of money.

Have a great day. I hope it is a great day for your husband too.

Oh bummer, freezer going out. Hopefully you didn't have a ton of meat & stuff in there. We had that before & it's not fun, plus all the food you lose. At least it held out for that long! Not much does anymore.

Hubs doesn't have the carpal tunnel, but it is his nerves either in his arms or in the back somehow. He had xrays done & is taking some anti-inflammitory stuff, plus he's going to try to stop smoking...yay! So he's on something for that also, hopefully it helps, he really needs to quit. Anyhoos, if the stuff doesn't help with the nerves he has a specialist he'll need to go see & if that doesn't do the trick, he'll have to see a neurologist. So, cross fingers it doesn't get to that point. So yeah, we'll see if this $$ is worth having insurance or not. They do try to weasel out of a lot so they don't have to pay, imagine that.

Kiddo did go to the last meeting & they had pizza & got a pic taken of the team, it turned out good! They all look so tough ya know. He is getting older, I see it every day now. I think he'll be a good kid, maybe a few knocks here & there & disagreements with dad but overall a good kid. My oldest was a great kid too, not the unruly teen you always hear about. I've been blessed with great kids for sure!

Hope all have a great weeekend! I'm off to get ready for my weekly shopping, I go every Fri. to the closest town to stock up, it's 45 mi. away. So fridays are kind of a slacker hang out kind of day. I hate to shop but I snoop around too a little. It's not a big town, they have just a walmart & a couple small grocery stores, but it's better than what I have here...

I had plenty in the freezer. Some deer meat, roast, fish, chicken, burger, veggies, fruit, bread dough, leftovers . . . I don't remember what all I had. But it filled 2 big trash cans for trash pick-up Friday. Made me sick. I'm guessing it was, at a minimum, $700 worth of food. Now I don't have what was lost, plus I don't have a freezer. I'll buy another one. I'm already missing it. But I'm waiting a little bit. I need to get this last real estate tax payment made first. That's due the 7th of Dec. It's just never-ending.

Hope your hubby's feeling better and in less pain. Insurance can be a real pain. It's one of my responsibilities here at work. Another thing I've noticed is that the billing staff of the doctor's office has to know how to bill properly. Claims are denied quite often because they weren't coded correctly at the time they were billed. What a pain!

Glad your son went to the meeting and was able to join in the fun of a pizza party and having his picture taken. Good memories for him. They do grow up quickly don't they.

I had problems with my kids. I was just too naive. They turned out OK in the end, but getting there was a struggle, frightening, and heartbreaking. I did it alone too. Worthless dad.

Had a great weekend. It's been just beautiful here. Oh how I love the fall.

Enjoy your week. I'm getting very worried about harley again.

I know what you mean about harley, I do hope that she's ok. Wish there was a way that we were able to actually check in on her, make sure she was alright.

That is a royal bummer on the freezer. It just makes you sick doesn't it?? And it seems that it's a never ending thing, always have to fix something or replace it, some kind of thing like that.

Well, as for hubby, he's taking wellbutrin for the stop smoking & I think it's working against his prozac. His moods have been horrible & I told him that's what I thought too. Good thing before he started taking it for me to tell him if I noticed changes, well for sure there's changes!! He's not as bad now as he was during the weekend. Holy crap, you'd have thought he was PMS'in, or even worse. I don't get near as bad as he did! Hopefully soon he evens out. And no, he can't tell on changes with smoking either. I'm gonna be unhappy if all of that was for nothing..

I think all parents have a rough time with their kids, no matter if alone or together. It really is a learning process, a continuing one at that. By the time we have grandkids, we may get part of it figured out! I'm sure you have a better idea now don't you beb?!

I think our fall is about finished for this year. We still have some colors around, but for the most part they've all fallen off. They have some snow forecasted for next week, so fall is done then. Of course halloween is next weekend & gotta have snow. That's just a given, whether here or in Wyoming, snow is halloween. Costumes are covered with coats! Someone needs to come up with coat costumes, they'd make a fortune! I'd do it but I'm no where near sewing, not one of my things at all. Nada. Hey, if you give someone the idea & it turns out big, well, you know where to find me!! :)

Half way thru the week now...

Friday already. Sheesh. The weeks are sometimes like 2 days rather than 7. The weather is fantastic here. But yesterday's paper predicts rain beginning tomorrow. I can't complain. We've had beautiful days for over a month now. Just perfect.

Oh, boy, hubby is dealing with stop smoking. That's tough. I haven't smoked now for 30 years, but I remember vividly how tough it was to stop. If he has 2 meds banging heads, that is even tough. Good luck to both of you!

It isn't being a parent. Period. The kids didn't come with a book of instructions. But then they're not 'one size fits all' anymore than parents are. What kids face now is way, way beyond what kids of my generation faced. The drug scene was there in the 60's, but today is 'in your face.' I believe the same problems have always been around, but they're sure out there more today than ever. You're right though. I see a lot more with my grandkids than I did with my own. I'm thankful that things turned out OK.

I hate to think of fall ending. It's been pretty this year.

Have a great weekend.

Well crap, here comes winter. Our rain is coming down pretty darn good & steady, so that means tonite, tomorrow.....snow coming. Ugh. I'm really feeling like just napping & nothing else.

I really should hop on the ol' tread, I really should. But I'm just so lazy today! I need to get cleaning on the house & all that garb tho. Yesterday my stomach was up & down, and it hit so fast too, it was weird. I made a yummy lemon pound cake & it was cooking & the smell I thought was just going to make me lose it. I never get like that, where the smell of something, specially something GOOD, makes me feel like barfing. Just weird.

Well, it is Monday, maybe that's why I'm so lazy then??

Oh, boy, the only time smells made me feel like that was when I was pregnant!

Lemon pound cake sounds good. I made a pumpkin cake from scratch on Sunday. I love to bake. I don't bake often though because I'll eat it if I do. It turned out good. Made a meatloaf too. It was a 'fallish' day and meatloaf just hit the spot.

Snow already. Oh, gosh, I'm so glad I don't have to deal with that already.

How's hubby doing? Hope he's feeling better. Did you find out what the deal was with your swallowing problem? Hasn't reoccured has it?

Where is our friend harley? I really am getting concerned about her.

On with work. Have a good day.

I know, I know, hubs asked me the same thing about being pregnant! Geez, I really doubt it, but I guess one never knows. I did just read the other day that morning sickness is a good sign that one won't have a miscarriage. I never ever did get sick with any kids, ever. It was all really a breeze til last year. I really don't think I am, and I don't know if I could handle it, I'd be so scared. Who knows. Either way we'll know in a few weeks I suppose...

The pumpkin cake sounds wonderful! I love that stuff. Anything fall-ish. Plus the smells alone are worth the baking. That is if it wouldn't make me feel sick! Today I'm making up veggie soup, one of my favorites. Becoming one of kiddos too. I add cabbage to it mainly for the flavor, but he loves eating it up. More power to him, I'm not fond of it at all, to eat it. I love the flavors sauerkraut & cabbage give, just don't like to eat it.

We're starting to get the snow, it's the fine yucky powdery stuff, not real pretty. We have winds over 40 mph, have blizzard warnings until tomorrow night. Cripes, I was hoping it'd be awhile really before this would come in.

Hubs is feeling a little better, more issues with work of course. They really are lax on keeping the trucks & equipment up to par & it really gets him. He's needing new tires on for the snow, they have em in the shop, but keep dragging the putting them on. He's gonna blow up here soon. And if anything should happen to him because of it, well, lets just say they wish they'd have listened to him instead of having to deal with me! What a deal there.

I do hope that harley is ok. It really is scary stuff that had happened to her & wonder if it had done something to her. Wish she'd just pop in for a minute to let us know...

So it wasn't just me. Pregnant. You know, jenjs, if you are there's a reason for it. It's just meant to be. At least that's what my mom always said. I was sick and threw up for almost 5 months with my first one. My second one was more smells, and queasiness, but I didn't actually throw up. Tired too. Always tired with both of them.

Veggie soup. I've been thinking about making a big old pot of it in the crockpot. Might do that this weekend. I love cabbage and sauerkraut. Sure don't want to eat it and then come to work though. Tough on the stomach anymore. Or maybe not the stomach . . .

Snow. Oh, horrible stuff for so early in the year. We had strong winds the other night and tornado warnings - but fortunately it had nothing to do with snow.

I can't imagine your husband's employer not taking care of the trucks. That's a huge liability for them, and providing unsafe equipment for the employees. That would terrify me. Got to be hard on both of you.

Glad he's feeling a little better. If he didn't have problems with work, he'd probably feel even better.

Got to get moving here at work now.

I agree about harley. That's why I've been so concerned about her.

I wondered if you had been hit with any tornadoes & all of that. Kinda figured you'd have the wind. I thought it would never go away! Today it's been a nice calm clear day, lots of sunshine. Got the car dug out....but made a mess in our makeshift driveway of gravel. Now we have pits again in places where I dug in a bit. Nice. Hopefully soon (ugh, hate to say it but true in a way) it'll freeze up & not be such a problem.

I notice all week come evenings I get woozy, lots of heartburn, but not as bad as Sunday was. Sheesh, I really hope it isn't all that, just some little bug.

Oh man, with hubs work crap....all hell is about to break loose. The VP came up from Texas, plus 2 HR people, so that means they're about to can some folks they say. And from how hubs is talking, he's pretty close to the regional manager & may be in line to be this yard manager. So then all the equipment would be up to par then for sure. Safety is hubs big deal & it should be. I guess they aren't going along the DOT guidelines either that they should. Big mistake there! Could close up the whole place then if it isn't taken care of.....that's their job! Seriously, how dumb do people really have to be?? Have they no commom sense?

I hope you get to a doctor soon. You need to find out what's wrong. I just wonder . . .

You talked about snow last week. My brother called and came by Saturday with some elk. He had just returned from a hunting trip in CO. They were in Meeker CO, 60 mi from the Utah border. They had 12" of snow and it was really cold. For here it's just so early to think about snow.

We had a gorgeous weekend. Perfect Halloween weekend. It's 50 now, with a high of 69, low of 39 tonight. I'm happy with this. Sunny out too.

I gained 1/2# this week. Shoot! Ya think it could be the Snickers I ate? The trick or treaters had to have something good. That means Snickers to me. I 'had' to taste them to make sure they were OK. Believe me. They were OK.

I'm pushing myself for more exercise starting this week. I've got to get more weight off.

Have a great week.

Wow, we used to live about 60 mi from Meeker! There are tons of elk around there, lots of deer too. You see hunters all over the place from about early October thru mid November. They had gotten that much snow huh? That surprises me, for that area.

Today it got to what'd they say, 64 I think? And for November, wow, that's wild. We still have about 6" in some places where it drifted a lot, but for the most part it's all gone.

Hey, don't feel bad about 1/2#, that isn't bad at all. And from snickers too, that's one of my favorites too! I love peanut-buttery stuff too, but my stomach has never been able to take it well since I'd had my gallbladder removed yrs ago, right after 1stborn. But anyhows, it's kinda hard to resist the snickers. We didn't have 1 treater either, so I have this huge bowl of candy now! Course the kiddo will eat quite a bit of it so hopefully I shouldn't worry too much about it.

I'll have to dreg myself to the tread also. With hubs home the past 4 days he puts me off of all of my routines. He gets this needy crap thing going on & wants me to just sit in the livingroom with him. Now that drives me nuts right there! Hopefully he goes off to work tomorrow. His truck has been broke down, again.

Thursday already. So lived near Meeker. I think Meeker's where they stayed. He mentioned mountains, but said they aren't huge like in Denver/that area. Said it's pretty there. I love the mountains.

I love Snickers because it's all of my favorites in one candy - nuts, caramel and chocolate. What more could I ever dream of!

Gosh I wish we'd hear from harley. Usually 'no news is good news' but the last time we heard from her it wasn't so good. Worries me.

Better get moving with work. Have a great day.

Almost the weekend, time to go into town & do my weekly shopping. Kiddo has no school today, so he'll be coming along with. I think we'll try to go to Arbys for lunch, that'll make his day.

There's not a lot of mountains, or what I'm used to for mountains, around Meeker really. There's some plateaus & that. When I think of mountains I picture the Tetons, huge things, not little mounds! It is pretty around Meeker tho.

I wonder about harley, I hope she is ok. Wish there was a way we could check in on her, you know? Just for piece of mind. We're kinda selfish on that aren't we?!

Hope you have a great weekend! Should be decent here, no storms that I know of...

What you describe 'plateaus' sounds like what my brother described. He said they aren't mountains like the Rockies, etc. But it's beautiful according to him.

Arby's my grandson loves to eat there too. It is good.

I know what you mean about harley. If she just isn't checking in, fine. I just hope she's OK. She's sure had problems - knees, etc., but that kick in the head, being knocked out - that's serious. Yes, I do wish there was a way we could check in on her. I don't consider it selfish at all. I consider it concerned.

Had a good weekend. Hope you did too. I forgot to weigh myself yesterday and this AM too. I just get in a hurry and off I go. It was a pretty weekend again. Hope you had a good one.

I'm going out of town for a 'girls' weekend' this week. I leave on Thursday and return on Sunday evening. I'm not working out of my usual office on Monday either. I'm going to St Louis to work for the day. So I have a busy time ahead - but 4 days of fun and relaxation. We'll shop at the outlet mall - which doesn't really mean much to me except I might find some bargains for Christmas. We'll go to a musical that is the opening of the Christmas season, and we love going there. We'll rent the same condo we have the past 3 times we went (3 BR, 2 bath, kitchen, LR, patio, gas grill on the lake!). Love it. I can hear the lake now if I close my eyes. They were just built 2 years ago. This is 'off season' for Lake of the Ozarks. So the 3 of us will split the cost and end up spending $135 for the 3 nights. Can you believe it? It's beautiful there. It only takes around 3 to 3 1/2 hrs to get there too. We just have time goofing off and getting away. I'm sure looking forward to it.

3 weeks til T-giving! Yikes. Have a great week.
