Well beb I hope you had wonderful holidays with the fam! It sure goes by fast doesn't it?! I really don't know why time seems to go so fast when we don't work, yet when we do, at times it seems to crawl? Notice that? I know youngest does. But before you know it, school will already be out. It's the new year already! (and I have written checks & nope, didn't even put 12 on em either! So proud!)

That Harley had better be clickin in her & soon. It's about time for her to be gettin her butt in here & tell us how things are goin with her!

I'm officially ready for spring. I'm tired of my hands freezing all the time & my toes too. At least it's above zero today but we've been getting quite a bit of snow the past few days. Ugh. I'm bout done with that too!!

I had wonderful holidays with the family. Ah, yes, they go by so fast. Here we are 4 days into a brand new year. That's why I love T-giving and the week or two after it. That's the 'best part' of the holidays to me. It's exciting. There's something to look forward to. Now it's blah. Decorations are coming down. No big holidays until Easter and this year that's early, in March. I'm with you. I'm ready for spring and going outdoors.

Yes, harley girl, get your butt in here and let us know you're OK.

Did you and your family have good holidays? Sure hope so. Lots of snow? We had snow on NYE. By then I don't want it. I wanted flurries for T-giving, same thing for Christmas Eve/Day - flurries or an inch. Don't want it or need it now.

Have a great weekend.

I'd say we have about maybe a ft. of snow total right now, more than enough, since they did say we were going to have a mild winter. HA! I do believe someone is totally full of it. If you believe in the global warming it'd be hard to swallow here right now, I tell ya. Last winter, I could see it. This year, no way. Give me spring! I'm all for snow just for Christmas to get in the spirit, then it can stay away.

We're going to try for a new house! Well, new for us. It's only a few blocks away from us, has a basement, garage, what we don't have.....room for all of hubby's stuff he's collected just since moving here that he's been whining that he doesn't have room for here. Will be interesting! If we're lucky, hopefully we will be, by June we will be all finished & settled. He already has someone that's interested in our place, so we don't need to put the house on the market even. It wouldn't be hard to sell here anyways, not with this oil going on & folks not having a place to live. Easy to sell. The folks selling the house we want, their mom they just put into the nursing home so they want to sell the house. They're just now in the process of cleaning it out of all the junk & all that. Man did it bring back memories. The house even reminds me a little of the folks' place in a lot of different ways. Beautiful huge kitchen! Love it! Just hope it all works out. Cross fingers!!

Good luck on the new house. Big kitchen - that's key in a home, especially when you do a lot of cooking and you seem to do your share. I love to cook. I don't want to cook at the end of the workday, but otherwise - love it. I enjoy baking too. That's great news, and add to that the fact that you already have someone interested in your current home. Piece of cake!

We've only had 1 1/2" of snow so far. We're way, way behind in precipitation here. The river (Mississippi) is low that the barges are getting stuck.

Went to the GYN this week and he's pleased because I've lost some weight. I've certainly been working on it. I think about 16# last year. That isn't a tremendous amount, but I didn't gain. I lost. Hurrah for me.

I just bought myself a FitBit Zip. It's very tiny, it's pretty and it's cute. It's a pedometer. It doesn't fall off my waistband due to my 'roll' and it doesn't fall out of my pocket when I put it in my pocket. My other pedometers did both of those things. So I'm tickled with it. There are different versions and I bought the smallest, cheapest version. It suits my needs. When I go home at night, I fire up the PC and 'swoosh!' my steps are automatically logged on the tracker at FitBit.com. Amazing; huh? The more expensive versions track calories and they even 'talk' to you -or so I'm told. They would say like "Barb, time to get up and move. You sat too long." Or something similar to that. They really are neat.

Have a great weekend.

Congrats on the 16#!!! That is just awesome! I'd be happy happy happy if I could get about 10 off, that's about just right I think. It would put me inbetween 122-125. That's not too thin or too pudgy (I'm about 5'41/2"). I'm shrinkin for cripes' sake already!! I used to be 5'6"!! Or so I thought! I'm still the tallest of us girls but still...sheesh. It's not like I don't get my fill of milk, I used to be like a fish out of water if I couldn't get enough milk. This getting older really bites!

Also bites.....winter. I'm done, spent. Enough already. Today it's only 1 above. It gets to about -15 at night, wind chill around -35. Come on March! At least by then the temps will stay above freezing!

I have been getting on the tread more lately, which is something I was definitely slacking in. If we get this other place, in the basement I'd like to put up a huge punching bag so I can really go to town & beat the crap out of it from time to time when I get frustrated....which seems to be a lot! Whether it be from hubs, kids, weather.....you name it. Good way to get off steam. I've wanted to do that for a long time, just need to find a good used one then.

It's 21 here. I won't complain. You've definitely won the low temp contest. I'm with you. I'm sick of winter. Every year I hate it more, but not until after Christmas. I think I'd have a hard time getting used to a warm Christmas. But then there are times I wonder . . . I absolutely hate the humidity of summer, but I'm sick of dark, gloomy days and closed up houses.

I remember that you had your treadmill in the basement in your other house. It would be nice to have one now. I dropped my membership to the gym. We weren't using it enough to keep spending the money. It was only $41 a month, but take that x 12 and it adds up. I have a stationery bike in the basement, one of those exercise balls, tons of DVD's, and 2 feet! I can get a workout if I want one. Now with my Fitbit I'm moving more. That's great for me, but I'm still not getting in the recommended 10,000 steps per day.

If you only have 10# to lose, that's terrific. I have a lot more. I'd like to lose at least 75#. I'm tall, 5' 8", and I have that big, German build. So I weigh more than I look like I weigh. Doesn't matter. The weight is not good for me. So I will get it off. I don't want to retire and be sick because I have too much weight I'm carrying around.

Time to get busy here at work. Have a great day. Love your idea of a punching bag. Talk about a stress reliever, plus a workout - perfect!

Other mama had the baby this AM finally! She was getting verrrry uncomfortable! So now there's 2 very tiny ones I'll be having here soon. Actually, within 2 weeks I'll have the other one here, the little boy. I'm surprised that she decided to come here after all, she was saying that she had another sitter she was going to. Not quite sure what that was about. But it'll be fun having a small one! Be interesting to see how the big sister acts, I haven't had the both of them yet. She's being a little stinker today, not too sure what her deal is.

Looks as tho the house deal will be going through as planned. We weren't really sure about how to go about doing a few things, but hubs seems to have found a way, or he says he has, so I guess it's a done deal. Now, just need spring to come & lets get time moving then! The new place doesn't have a tub & I tell ya, I'm a bathtub gal. I have to have my nightime bath at the end of a looong day with a bunch of kids. So, I'm itchin to go & work on fixing this bathroom BEFORE we actually get moved in! I don't want to have to suffer for too long with, ugh, showers. They are just not my cup of tea. And it's just the one bathroom. *sigh* To get many pluses we have to live with the minuses. Also no central air or any air conditioners, I could care less on that but for hubs it's a big deal. No fencing for the backyard, so we have to do something so we don't lose our Taz (bulldog). He wouldn't run off anyways. But yes for basement & punching bag!!!!!!! And oversized kitchen!

2 little ones. Fun for you, hopefully. You just never know how they'll all work out together. I'm sure you're great with them though. As you know, it just takes an awful lot of patience and a lot of attention. For me, kids are easier than adults. We adults can be a real PIA.

Congratulations on the house. That's great news. I only have one bathroom too. When my aunt/uncle built the house 64 years ago that's all they ever put in homes. Now it's standard to have a minimum of 2. I'd love another one, but that's a lot of money. I love a bath too, bubbles, scented, candles, lots of hot water, lay back and relax. BUT my knees have been a problem for at least a year now. Getting up from the tub is more than my knees can handle. So I've only had showers. I miss the bubble baths. I'm hoping that since I'm walking more, etc. 'maybe' that will change. I would think the fence would help more with the little ones than the dog! I loved the fence when my own were little.

Have a great weekend. Now's the fun time - planning for the new home. Let's see. There's the bathroom, the basement with the punching bag and your treadmill, and the flowers!

I swear, jenjs, we are the only 2 people who post on this website!! None of the other threads show any sign of life whatsoever. I'm surprised. Foodfit - one would think it would be used frequently. We all eat. So many of us are trying to eat healthy, get fit or stay fit. Surprising.

Guess what I made over the weekend - your gnocchi soup. It was delicious. Very, very good and great for a cold day. It's 14 here today. Saturday it was in the 60's. And we wonder why so many are sick.

The flu has hit heavy here. There are specialists being called in to disinfect ERs in local hospitals. Showed some kind of robotic equipment that just 'swoops' the germs right out of the air. I guess that's what it does anyway.

You're probably getting snow. We have some sleet/freezing rain predicted for later this week. All I want is spring and to go outside, sunshine (and we've had that but I want the temp that goes with it), plant flowers. Saturday I noticed that my peony bushes had buds. Not good - I don't want this freezing cold to kill them. They're so pretty.

Better work. Had to tell you that I made the soup recipe you gave me.

Harley, won't you please check in with us?

Ha! I know! I always thought it was strange that we were the only ones to pop in on this too. Well, besides harley from time to time. Which she had better do here & soon I hope. Miss hearing what she's been up to!

Oh man, I can just taste that soup now that you mention it. Sounds just too scrumptious! It's still a very good day for soup here, all week will be. All this past weekend was in the below zeros for a high, with -35 to -50 for wind chills, so to be sick of winter is an understatement! I can't believe you had hit the 60s for cripes sake! I would bet the farm then that you won't have many pretty buds on your bushes this spring if it keeps doing that. Not a good sign. We are very far from anything like that happening!!

We have been very lucky with not getting sick this year, knock on wood. Just a sniffle here & there but that's about it. And I hope that's all it will be. I haven't heard of any real bad cases of flu going around town so far, or that kiddo has it there at school, so hopefully we will be lucky to pass it all by. I sure hope so!

Monday once again and by Friday we're into February already. While I'm thrilled to be inching towards spring, the time is going so fast. It always amazes me.

We had freezing rain yesterday morning. Today's it will get up possibly to 60 or so. Up to 68 tomorrow, with thunderstorms, possible tornadoes, AND then on Wednesday down into the 30's and snow. Talk about a roller coaster. Of course, that's the prediction. Doesn't mean it will be so and I don't think the snow is suppose to amount to anything. But this is crazy weather.

I attended my first Bar Mitzvah Saturday. It was my boss' grandson's. Very, very nice. Excellent experience. I've been to their weddings, but this is different. I also had to have a new hot water heater and kitchen faucet installed this weekend. Wow!! I'll keep working. We're talking lots and lots of $$$$.

Hope you and your family remain healthy. We're doing OK so far too. Seems to be hitting hard everywhere.

Dang, I wish harley would just pop in.

Holy moly what's up with your weather?? Sounds like rocky mt weather more or less! Only there it happens like within 10 minutes, just wait & it'll change if ya don't like it. True! Always has been. Yesterday I think we were close to 40 if you can imagine, so we had opened up a few windows for a little bit to get some air in. Was actually nice! Didn't last for long of course. Later then it started to snow, big ol flakes. Got about an inch. Now tomorrow we're supposed to hit below zeros again thru Friday, ugh. I hate that!! On Thurs. for a HIGH it's supposed to be maybe -10. Enough of this crap already!!!!!!

Man, if we would change anything in this house it would have to be a new water heater. This one just doesn't cut it for me. Can't take a decent hot bath like I like to, it doesn't get nice & real hot the way I like it. And if all 3 of us need to shower up in a hurry for something?? Forget it, there's not enough water for all of us, which is sooo dumb. Whoever picked this one didn't think very well, with 2 bathrooms you need a big enough heater to hold enough hot water. Good thing we're movin soon then!! Hopefully that one is a lot better!!!

Today it's 10 here, wind chill of -2. Snowed yesterday, but that only lasted for about an hour. It's nuts here. That's for sure.

You said dirty words 'hot water heater.' I went home last Friday, went downstairs to start my laundry, and my HWH was leaking. Guess what that cost: $1700!!! 40 gal water heater, 6 year warranty, up to code, hauled the old one, labor . . . I told him: I know you aren't getting all this money, but I hope to hell this one's lined with gold!! Man was I ever upset. That's a ridiculous price. However, I'm at their mercy. I don't know anything about plumbing, and I don't have a plumber in the family. I used the same plumber I've used since '96 when I bought the house. It's the same plumber my aunt/uncle used before me. They built the house. That put a dent in my checkbook. Didn't have the money in the checkbook on a Friday night. I don't have that in a checking account. So I handed him plastic. Finally calmed down by Saturday evening and thought - look at the bright side. I have a job. Make a decent wage. I have a home. So many people don't have those things. Still brought tears to my eyes signing the receipt.

I have a meeting in a couple of hours. Just wanted to check in because I know I haven't done that this week. Been pretty busy here. Glad you had at least one decent day. Spring is coming - that's what I keep telling myself. Have a great weekend.

I have a few mins to check in while the tots are sleepin. Have the tiny little brother starting today, he's a pretty good little one....so far! Nothing like his sister was, thank the lucky stars for that!! Hopefully he'll stay that way. Now, sis on the other hand today, is not having a very good day. Refused to eat lunch, so straight to nap she went. I'm not fighting her to eat. Not my job to force feed, didn't even do it to my own, not doin it to other kids.

Did ya watch the big game? I was for the 9ers, was a bit bummed to see em lose but oh well. That's the way it always goes. There were a lot of missed calls tho I do have to say, plain as daylight...how could they miss em. I just don't understand sometimes. I do think that those guys do get paid to miss some things, like mafia-type stuff goin on, I do. Not exactly fair, but nothing ever is. It really wouldn't surprise me at all.

I do believe this week we will stay above the zero mark all week, I hope so anyways. And I do hope we don't see 6 more weeks of winter, but up here it's a given anyhow. Spring doesn't really start until what, May around here. That sounds about right.

Sure sorry bout the "bad word" I said! I do hate when all that kind of stuff happens. No matter how we may plan to be prepared for something like that, we never are. No matter how hard we try. It is very frustrating!

Hope ya have a great week!

Glad the little new one is doing well. Maybe his sister will take lessons. The thing is if she isn't corrected it simply isn't her fault. On the other hand, all kinds will and do 'act up' from time to time. From what you've said about her it isn't 'from time to time.' It's her normal behavior. What a shame. We all have rules to abide our entire lives.

Today it's pretty here. The sun is out and I have spring fever so bad. We had 4" of snow on Sunday. It was cold. Now it's in the upper 40's. Spring will come. I know it will.

I didn't watch the Super Bowl. While I love sports, I just don't totally understand football. My son played in HS, and I didn't learn a thing then. I loved going because it was him! But I know this was a biggie. I agree. There are a lot of missed calls that really aren't missed. Too bad, but I guess that works both ways at times too.

I sure do wish harley would check in with us. I think it was early fall when we last heard from her.

Remember, now, this isn't the little devil incarnate. I don't have her here anymore, thank the Lord for that!!! This is who we would call "Crabby Patti", since she was always soooo crabby & always cried if she didn't get constantly held it seemed. Anyhoos, little bro had an excellent day 1, but ever since he's been a turd to put it meekly! I believe it's because he doesn't know me, he had different formula that mom said had made him kind of yucky....yeah thanks for that one mom (but she did get the regular one finally), and he's getting used to the day & night thing I think. A lot for one week all at once. Today's the 1st day since Monday he's slept more than an hr long, so I'm takin it!!!

We've had a lot of fog for the past 2 days now, it's strange. It's made the trees the real pretty white. It's nice & all, but gimme spring. I want sun, not all the clouds. Done already!

Little voices are stirring up. Have a great weekend!

I was thinking it was the little devil. Somewhat better then. Poor little guy. That really is a lot of adjusting for a baby to do - new face, new place, new schedule, different formula (thank goodness she switched it back) . . . Tough stuff for a new one. Hopefully things will work out once he gets used to you.

I swear we're the only 2 who post in this community.

We've had strange weather again. Cold. Rain, gloomy. Now it's pretty today, but tonight the prediction is for possible freezing rain, flurries . . . and so it goes.

The constant changes in the weather are wearing me out. I feel 'tired' and I know that's what it's from. But spring is truly just around the corner. I just know it is!!

Better scoot back to work. But the days pass so quickly. If I don't stop by, I might forget and it will be the weekend once again.

I know we're the only ones who post! But I do hope that harley will come back soon. Can only hope! It was fun hearin about the goins on at the farm.

Well, we will be starting soon on the paperwork process on the new house. Holy crapoly! That takes forever & a day it seems. But....gotta have this one sold to get the other. Hubby thinks he has it all worked out, but I have a feeling it's not gonna be as smooth as he hopes!

I decided after this yr. of school is out for summer I won't be watching kiddos anymore. Hubs wants to go into the law enforcement full time, so I need to find a better paying job then, which the kids just don't do. I told hubs when he came home for lunch today that's what I decided on, he seemed surprised at that. But, I may be lucky. There's a business that's in the process of expanding & they were going to have a daycare in it. Hubs knows the owner well & he said he would find out for me if they have it all figured out on people yet that they were going to have work there or not yet. So my cards just may be laying out right for once!

Oh cripes, I hate the weather! Our high today is -2. It got -22 last night & I really thought that we were past that crap already & on the way towards spring, I really did. I could see single digits still but come on!!! Enough already!

Here I've been doing soooo good on the tread, yesterday I even was on it twice. My gumption is being able to read a book while doing it. During the past month I think I've gone thru 5 books, it may be more not sure. I ordered like 7 more, I was hoping they'd be here TODAY because I'm fresh out now. Finished my last one yesterday. So if I were to hop on it now, it seems to take FOREVER to go thru the motions of it & then it's not quite as worthwhile. ugh!! I WANT MY BOOKS! NOW!!!!!!

I too wish we'd hear from harley. I loved hearing about her critters - the cows, the chickens, dogs . . . loved it. She's an interesting lady.

Good luck with the paperwork. I hate that stuff. Just hate it. It definitely does take forever to complete.

Working at a daycare would be perfect for you. You love children and are apparently very good with them. It would also get you out of having your home used for the care. Less wear and tear on your own home, and that would mean less work for you too. Maybe some paid time off eventually - plus you might enjoy being with some adults too! I hope it works out for you.

The weather here has been up and down. Tonight they're predicting snow to move in, through tomorrow and into Friday. Possible freezing rain tomorrow too. Nice. They're only predicting 2 - 4" though. We're on the downside of winter and I'm thrilled.

You reminded me when you referred to your books on the tread that I need to stop and pick up books on tape for my stationary bike! You are so right. It's absolutely boring without something like that. I thought about taking my Kindle with me, but I sure don't want to drop it. My bike is in the basement. I can just see it shattered!

And it's back to work for me.

After I'd talked about starting paperwork on the other house, guess what. I must have esp or something! Cuz yesterday out of the blue hubs called & said we needed to go to the other house & start signing papers to get the ball rolling. Now, I wish I had that same esp for like winning the lotto, something like that, but it doesn't seem to work that way. Oh, since we're on that esp subject I'll have to go on this.....hubs has been looking for a new k9 for an apprehension dog, not drugs. So he'd showed me one dog & he was real pretty & asked me what I thought & I looked it over & pointed it out to him that he was born on my birthday! (guess this isn't really an esp thing huh) So he saw it as a sign he needed to buy THAT dog! The force wouldn't buy the dog, WE would. Ummm, I don't think I want to spend over $4,000 on a dog, sorry hun! I don't care what kind of sign you may be getting!!! I'm praying he doesn't get that dog. Not quite sure how he would anyways...

I've been reading how the storm has been tracking across country so far. Glad we haven't been getting slammed! We're getting a few flakes on & off today, but it is above zero temps finally thankfully!!!
