Fish is a part of most American’s diets, but did you know that the mercury and PCB levels contained in certain fish may be dangerous to you and your family? Before you cook your next fish dinner, I urge you to visit www.MercuryAction.org. There you will find a guide published by Physicians for Social Responsibility and the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals, Healthy Fish, Healthy Families, outlining what kind of and how much fish you and your family should eat. It is the first of such guides written by physicians.
Mercury is known to affect a child’s ability to learn and can significantly harm their motor skills. PCB’s are shown to slow brain development in infants and may cause cancer. Millions of men and women and over 600,000 newborns are exposed to dangerously high mercury and PCB levels each year.
So before you heat up that pan, I urge you to visit www.MercuryAction.org and protect the health of you and your family.

Well, I have read this exact same post THREE times in different places! Hey! You MISSED A FEW BOARDS! [:P]
They say you should not eat certain types of fish more than twice a week. I don't know about all of you, but we don't eat fish twice a week. My husband and I are "almost vegitarians". We do not eat warm blooded animals.... so even with fish in our diet, there is no way we would be eating too much fish.
I thought Americans ate too much BEEF and fast food and FATs. I really don't see Americans eating too much fish.... but the warning is just that.... a warning.... so HEADS UP! [:o)]
2x4 was here, but now she's gone. She left this post to carry on... |
