Question:
I'm training for my first 5K. Should I be exercising every day, or taking some time to rest each week?
P. Blumenfeld, NY |
Richard Cotton
Answer:
You don't necessarily have to take a rest day, but if you don't you should be following each hard workout day with an easy one. Throwing in a rest day once or twice a week can be quite beneficial. It gives your body a chance to more fully recover so when you are working hard it can be high-quality work that truly will improve your fitness instead of wearing you out.
