MyPyramid for Kids

As a follow-up to the personalized MyPyramid introduced earlier this year, the government has now introduced a version for kids. The new MyPyramid for Kids is designed for children ages 6 to 11 years old, encouraging them to make healthy eating choices and engage in more physical activity. Officials hope that the program will teach children that eating well, feeling good and having fun all go hand-in-hand.

Classroom lessons and an interactive computer game called MyPyramid Blast Off are also part of the program, and the new MyPyramid for Kids will be reflected in the National School Lunch Program.

To experience MyPyramid for Kids, visit the official website at www.mypyramid.gov. Be sure to play MyPyramid Blast Off, designed to teach and entertain you and your kids as you try to reach Planet Power by fueling your rocket with food and exercise.

The Pyramid is based on the recommendations in the 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, which were released in January. See our helpful handbook on incorporating the healthy lessons of the Guidelines into your daily life.
