The FoodFit Plan is a weight loss program personalized for your diet and nutrition needs. The Plan is based on the most recent recommendations of the National Academy of Sciences' Institute of Medicine (NAS-IOM) and incorporates the latest scientific research on how to eat healthy and lose weight. The Plan doesn't advocate cutting out entire food groups. Instead we focus on both how much you eat and what you eat with the goal of helping you lose weight sensibly and healthfully. In addition to your personalized weight loss plan, you get delicious recipes from our celebrity chefs, Plan-exclusive tools to make sticking with the program easy and expert support and advice. 7. I am diabetic. Will the FoodFit Plan work for my needs?
Because the FoodFit Plan is based around a high-fiber, moderate protein diet derived from fresh produce and whole grains, it's ideal for preventive care. We do have many diabetic members who have experienced success with our plan, but as with all chronic conditions, we suggest you follow our plan in conjunction with your physician's care and approval.

8. How do I know the calories are right for me?
Your personalized diet plan is based on the information you provided in your FoodFit Profile. This information is used to calculate your BMI or Body Mass Index, which is a measure of your weight for your height. Your BMI along with your weight goals are used to develop your personalized meal plans.

10. What are the different options to view my personalized Menu Plans?

11. How do I change my FoodFit Profile?

You should retake the Profile periodically to track your progress by watching your red circles turn green.

12. How do I use the Food and Fitness Diary?
To begin using the diary, first set a weight goal. Once you have set your goals, use the calendar and choose a day to enter the food and water you have consumed and the exercise you have done. Use the journal to write about why you were eating, what you were feeling, what foods you enjoyed and things you would like to improve. Once you have entered the information for the day and saved it, you can view your total reports for the week or month. Charting your progress allows you to see how you are doing and what things you need to work on.

13. I want to substitute another food for something on my menu. How do I know how many calories to substitute?
From your "My Plan" page, click the "Change" button next to the food item you want to change. A window will appear that lists several suggested substitutions for that particular food. To make your substitution, click the desired substitution and it will be added to your Meal Plan. Your substitution will also be reflected in your shopping list.

14. What does "Make Default" mean on the Meal Plan page?
The "Make Default" link on your Meal Plan page allows you to make a particular meal the same for that meal occasion. For example, if you always eat the same breakfast, you can set that particular meal to always appear on your Meal Plan for breakfast. To set your default meal, customize the meal to fit your preferences with substitutions, if needed. Then click the "Make Default" link once you have the meal as you prefer it. That meal will now always appear for that occasion. To go back to FoodFit-suggested meals for that occasion, click the "Remove Default" link.

15. How do I remove a default meal from my Meal Plan?
To remove a default meal from your Meal Plan, click the "Remove Default" link next to the meal you wish to change. You will now receive FoodFit-suggested meals for this occasion.

16. How do I add items to my To-Do List?
The To-Do List shown on your Plan home page is programmed by FoodFit's editors and experts. We try to choose to-do items that will help you stay motivated and get the most out of your Plan membership. If you have suggestions about things you'd like to see added to your To-Do List, contact us with your feedback.

17. Can I still drink alcohol if I am on the Plan?
The FoodFit Plan does not include alcohol on the menus. If you do choose to have one or two drinks throughout the week, keep in mind the calorie counts and adjust your diet accordingly. One light beer (12oz) has 150 calories and 1.5 ounce of 80 proof distilled spirits has about 100 calories.

18. I am not used to eating the portion sizes in the FoodFit Plan. How do I tackle that?
To make sure you are hitting the appropriate calorie level each day, we recommend that you stick to the portion sizes in our recipes. When starting the Plan, you may want to measure everything out. Invest in a food scale and use your measuring spoons and cups to get accurate amounts.

19. What do I do once I reach my goal weight?
Because the FoodFit Plan is a balanced approach to healthy eating, once you reach your goal weight you can continue on the FoodFit Plan to maintain your weight. You will need to take the Profile again so that we can personalize your menu plans at the appropriate calorie level.

20. How often should I check my weight?
You should weigh yourself about once a week. Weighing yourself more often than that will not give you an accurate representation of your progress on the FoodFit Plan. This is for a variety of reasons, including differences in the fluid balance of your body. Try to weigh yourself weekly at the same time of day, on the same scale, wearing the same type of clothing to get a true sense of your progress. Once you have weighed yourself, enter your current weight into the Food and Fitness Diary to track your progress in reaching your goal.

21. I have a question about my diet and nutrition. Whom can I ask?
If you are a member of the FoodFit Plan, and you have a question about foods in your diet or specific nutrition questions about your diet, please e-mail our nutritionists at comments@foodfit.com. If you're not a member of the Plan, submit your question to our Ask the Experts.
