Invest In Yourself

As the wife of a New York City fire fighter who loves and lives for his profession, I have seen first hand the dedication, hard work and generosity of fire fighters throughout the United States and Canada.

As a nurse, I have also seen that, as noble as they are, fire fighters often put themselves last. I want to encourage fire fighters across North America to invest in themselves, their families and their future.

My partner and I have more than 20 years of nursing experience. In this time, we have learned that it doesn’t matter what your age or health status – it’s important to Invest in Yourself every day. We have seen too many people neglect their health until it’s too late. Many hope their symptoms will disappear or think medication alone can cure certain health problems, including heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and certain cancers.

We’ve identified eight Lifestyle Strategies in our book, Invest in Yourself: Health is the New Real Estate, to help improve your chances of avoiding certain preventable illnesses and decrease or eliminate the need for some medications.

Ask yourself:

  • Do you know what your Body Mass Index (BMI) is?

  • Do you know your blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose readings?

  • Do you know what Life Ergonomics is and how it can contribute to a healthy life?

  • Do you smoke?

Regardless of how you answered these questions, this book offers solutions and steps to take to improve the quality of your life. Invest in Yourself is designed to help everyone reach and maintain good health.

I have seen my husband come home from work exhausted, then coach our son’s baseball team and pitch in to carpool. He has seen a rapid improvement in energy level and overall health since he began “investing in himself.” In addition to changing his diet, increasing the amount he exercises and making an effort de-stress, Invest in Yourself has helped him – and countless others -- understand how lifestyle affects health.

Invest in Yourself, Health is the New Real Estate keeps you in better health so you can meet the everyday challenges of your professional and personal life.

    Yours in Good Health,
