I made it like the recipe and then added a little wine to remove the flavor off the bottom of the pan. I did not add the rice. I served it over brown rice.

We loved it, all 6 in our family of varying ages. It's nothing like you get at say, Popeye's Chicken, but that's precisely its charm. Excellent taste.

I am from Costa Rica - which is where the dish "Gallo Pinto" comes from and sadly this recipe is not even CLOSE to the real thing.
