My husband likes meat in his soup. I'm going to add some diced ham or crumbled bacon when I make it tomorrow.

Try a diced sweet potato in this recipe. It will naturally thicken up the soup and you won't believe the wonderful combination of pea and sweet potato! I make this at least once a month during the winter.
