Being the child of an English Mother, I grew up with this as a staple of my diet. My American father had a much better version however. He would toast and butter the bread and cut it into 1"squares. Then he would crack two softboiled eggs over the toast squares add salt and pepper and stir. My grown (very grown) children still ask for this when they are sick.
It was wonderful. This recipe tends to be my breafest every morning. Yum!
